Pool Code Compliance
Austin/Travis County pool safety code requires:
- Minimum 48” height (we recommend 54”)
- No horizontal rails in the lower 45” (no foot/handholds)
- Self-closing hinges on all pool-side gates
- Self-latching hardware with release on pool side only
- Latch minimum 54” from ground or requiring two simultaneous actions

- Residential: 1” pickets, 1-3/8” rails — standard homeowner application
- Commercial: 1-1/4” pickets, 1-5/8” rails — HOA common areas, rentals
- Industrial: 2” pickets, 1-5/8” rails, heavy-duty bottom rail — maximum strength
