Farm & Ranch Rail Fence
Split-rail, round-rail, and square-post ranch fencing for acreage properties, equestrian facilities, and large rural lots.
Farm & Ranch Rail Fence
Ranch fencing isn’t just for ranches. Split-rail adds rustic character to half-acre suburban lots, defines property lines on acreage, and is the required aesthetic for many rural county properties.
Split Rail vs. Round Rail
Split rail is hand-split along the wood grain — irregular, rustic, and authentic. Cedar split rail installs into mortised holes drilled into round posts.
Round rail is machine-milled to a consistent diameter. More uniform, easier to install in straight runs, and better for attaching wire mesh backing.
Livestock-Ready Configurations
For horse properties and working livestock operations, we add:
- Welded wire mesh attached to the inside face of rails — keeps goats and sheep from going through
- High-tensile smooth wire between rails — flexible, durable, horse-safe (no barbs on the fence face)
- Barbed wire on top rail or a separate strand above the top rail — for cattle operations
Deer Exclusion Fencing
Whitetail deer in the Hill Country require an 8-foot minimum fence height to prevent jumping. We install 8’ high-tensile woven wire deer fence with treated posts on 12-foot spacing — the most cost-effective deer exclusion available.
